This fully off grid cottage was in a very poor state of repair, with leaking roof, mould and rotten floors. We substantially renovated the cottage to a level that allowed the clients to carry out their own programme of decoration. As well as the major refurbishment work we altered the plan and fenestration to create lighter bedrooms with access directly into the landscape and a large open plan living space. We added a new plumbing and heating system powered solely by a wood burning stove with back boiler. New electrics were provided designed to be powered by a small scale hydro system from the nearby burn.
